The Characters That Defined Johnny Lever as a Comedian

Johnny Lever is a name that has become etched in the memories of all those who love comedy. His peculiar comic timing coupled with his spectacular mimicry talent has helped him carve a space for himself in the Indian film industry. The veteran started his career with stand-up comedy and rose to great heights only on merit and pure talent.

A firm believer in Jesus Christ and a symbol of simplicity and humility, Johnny Lever has given us unforgettable characters that can still make us laugh till our tummy hurts. Though he doesn’t do a lot of movies nowadays, one can find him entertaining the audience at several events across the country. The recent one which took place on Saturdayin Mumbai left everyone rofl.

The comedian is never out of form and even at the age of 59, he continues doing what he does best – make us laugh out loud. Let’s look at some of his most entertaining characters that never get old.

Khiladi (1992)
Here, Johnny Lever appeared on the screen just for a short span but left an incredible impression with his impeccable acting as a South Indian guesthouse owner. The way he laments about his chotte chotte bacche was downright hilarious.

Baazigar (1993)
Though we loved Shah Rukh Khan’s negative role in this much acclaimed Abbas-Mustan revenge thriller, Johnny Lever as the forgetful Babu Lal, the head servant, won a lot of attention with his antics throughout the film.

Judaai (1997)
Judaai saw Johnny Lever as a good-for-nothing son who considers himself an actor par excellence but almost always gets ridiculed. The funniest scene in the film was when he declares his father dead in order to act out an emotional scene.

Dulhe Raja (1998)
Dulhe Raja starred the famous jodi of Govinda and Kader Khan and was an instant hit. Johnny Lever, who portrayed the character of Kader Khan’s assistant was noticed and loved by everyone. The camaraderie between the three actors was something audiences enjoyed watching.

Nayak: The Real Hero (2001)
Nayak was loved by people for many reasons; one being the very unusual problem of Johnny Lever’s character in the film. You know what we are talking about, don’t you?

Awaara Paagal Deewana (2002)
Well, who doesn’t remember Chhota Chhatri? This film was a laughter riot with some of the best comedians from the industry coming together in a single frame. Our favorite was Johnny Lever with his trademark stammering and specifically the scenes where he is trying to explain his name to Paresh Rawal.

Johnny Lever is a known name and has fans throughout the country. If you are one of them, stay tuned to read reviews and details of the events where the comedian has performed or is going to perform.
