Parineeti Chopra has a hit a hattrick of memorable performances after The Girl on the Train and Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar. Saina is based on the life of the former number one world badminton champion Saina Nehwal. The movie focuses on the accolades she won in the sport along with her ever-supporting family and her husband. Saina is born to Usha Rani Nehwal (Meghna Malik), who was a district badminton champion and wanted her daughter to represent India. She starts training her from a young age and enrolls her for coaching once she reaches a certain age. Saina manages to impress her coaches from the very first day and they choose her to participate in district-level challenges and slowly into national-level competitions.
There is magic on the court
Badminton is a swift game where your eyes need to be on the court the entire time. All the court scenes in this movie are wonderfully executed. You will feel that you have a front-seat view to the court. These scenes along with Amaal Mallik‘s Parinda as the background score are the highlights of the movie. Saina’s story is very inspiring and this movie aims to do just that by showing us her journey to become the number one world badminton champion.
Parineeti Chopra shows us more of Saina
Parineeti Chopra manages us to show us the human side of the figure we see through the media. It shows her drive to become a champion and the sacrifices that she puts in to achieve her dreams. Special mention has to be given to Meghna Malik who plays Saina’s mother Usha Rani. Her performance was inspiring and impeccable. We definitely want to see more of her on screen.
The music blends well with the story
Songs like Parinda and Chal Wahin Chale act as background scores during pivotal scenes and instead of distracting us from the story, they give it a more emotional depth. The movie is an inspiring story meant to inspire everyone to dream big and not be afraid of failures. Saina has had some hits and misses, but she managed to achieve her dream in the end and kept dreaming.
