We’re used to movies with happy and heart-warming endings that make us feel good. However, these movies not only have sad endings they have endings that are really gut-wrenching and make you want to change the plotline completely. Warning: spoilers ahead!
The Mist
This film is based on Stephen King’s novella of the same name. It revolves around a small town that gets covered in a mist that holds otherwordly creatures. The ending of this film is different from King’s novella, it’s grimmer and darker. In the ending of the film, a group of survivors believe they are doomed as they travel through the mist. The group decides that death by gun is better than being torn apart by the creatures. David Drayton (Thomas Jane) takes the gun and shoots the other survivors including his son. He runs out of bullets before he can kill himself. Just then an army truck rolls by. This group was minutes away from being saved. ARRGH.

But, go watch them anyway.
