Then And Now: Where Are The Jurassic Park Actors Today?

When the first Jurassic Park film released in 1993 it was a revelation. The film was brilliant and eye-opening and more importantly – successful. It spawned two more sequels that would entertain science-fiction fans for years to come.

One of the things that made the film brilliant – apart from the dinosaurs – were the characters that we have grown to cherish. Wonder where the actors from the trilogy are up to these days?

Here’s a list of actors who made the series successful and where are they now.

#1. Sam Neill (Dr. Alan Grant)

Sam Neill definitely is one of the most recognizable cast members. He started his career as a director and ironically fell into acting. He’s played various characters and has been part of movies like Bicentennial Man, The Vow, Daybreakers, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Thor: Ragnarok.

#2. Laura Dern (Dr. Ellie Sattler)

Laura Dern was relatively unknown when the Jurassic Park series came out. Over the years, however, she has proved her mettle as a brilliant actress with movies like Rambling Rose and I Am Sam. She also made a successful foray into television with shows like Big Little Lies and  Twin Peaks (2017).

#3. Jeff Goldblum (Dr. Ian Malcolm)

Jeff Goldblum was part of first two films in the series and these films were some of his career making role. His fans still remember the dialogues from the films and they are still as iconic as they were years before. Since then he has been a part of movies like Perfume, Igby Goes Down and Thor: Ragnarok.

#4. Richard Attenborough (John Hammond)

This British actor started a production company Beaver Films that made a film like The League of Gentlemen. His directorial ventures include Chaplin (1992) that starred Robert Downing Jr who gave a phenomenal performance as Chaplin.

He sadly passed away on 24 August 2014 at the age of 91.

#5. Bob Peck (Robert Muldoon)

Robert Peck was best known for playing the gamekeeper in Jurassic Park. He was part of various Direct-to-TV films before his unfortunate demise in 1999.

#6. Martin Ferrero (Donald Gennaro)

Martin played supporting roles in films like Gods and Monsters (1998), and The Tailor of Panama (2001). However, he is famous for his role as lawyer Donald Gennaro in Jurassic Park. 

#7. Joseph Mazzello (Tim Murphy)

Not many know that the actor who played Dustin Moskovitz in The Social Network is the same kid from Jurassic Park. He bagged a role of a lifetime in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody as bass player John Deacon.

#8. Ariana Richards (Lex Murphy)

Yep, she played Lex in the movies. She went to act in a bunch of TV films and even released a music album.

#9. Samuel L. Jackson (Ray Arnold)

The actor is an icon. After Jurassic Park, he went on to have a career-high with successes of films like Pulp Fiction, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Unbreakable. He also has a recurring role in the Avengers franchise as Nick Fury.

#10. Julianne Moore (Dr. Sarah Harding)

Today, she is one of the most bankable actresses in Hollywood. She has received multiple Oscar nominations and an array of other influential awards. She has gone on to give us memorable performances in Still Alice, Magnolia, A Single Man, The Kids Are All Right that will be remembered for years to come.

#11. Vince Vaughn (Nick van Owen)

Jurassic Park happened to Vince before he was known as the fun dude from Wedding Crashers. Since then he has carved a niche in comedy with films like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, The Break-Up, and The Internship.

He also made a successful foray into television with True Detective playing  Frank Semyon.

#12. Peter Stormare (Dieter Stark)

He has played Gaear Grimsrud in the cult classic Fargo. Since then he has gone on to play supporting characters in  Armageddon, Chocolat, Minority Report, 22 Jump Street. He has famously lent the voice of Corporal in Penguins of Madagascar.

#13. Wayne Knight (Dennis Nedry)

Wayne Knight was one of the familiar faces in the movies even though he had a relatively minor role. By the time Jurassic Park was released, he was already playing Newman in the hit sitcom Seinfeld. Since then he has been part of various movies and TV shows primarily in the Comedy genre.

#14. Richard Schiff (Eddie Carr)

)Richard Schiff is most remembered for his role as Toby Ziegler on The West Wing. He played Emil Hamilton in Man of Steel, one of the more common DC supporting characters from the comics.

#15. Pete Postlethwaite (Roland Tembo)

Pete was nominated for Oscars for his stellar performance in In the Name of the Father in 1993. Since then he has been part of successful films like Romeo + Juliet, Dark Water, The Omen and most notably The Town

He passed away in 2011 after battling pancreatic cancer.

#16. Camilla Belle (Cathy Bowman)

She has a blink and a miss appearance in The Lost World as Cathy Bowman. The actress got a breakthrough role in The Patriot as a child actor. She since then has transitioned into movies like The Ballad of Jack and Rose and When a Stranger Calls.

#17. William H. Macy (Paul Kirby)

He is already regarded as one of the best character actors of his generation. He has given us some memorable performances in Thank You for Smoking, Welcome to Collinwood and The Lincoln Lawyer.

#18. Téa Leoni (Amanda Kirby)

After Jurassic Park III, she appeared in movies like Fun with Dick and JaneSpanglish and Ghost Town. She also nabbed a career-making role in Madam Secretary, a political-drama TV show.

#19. Alessandro Nivola (Billy Brennan)

After appearing in the second film in the trilogy, he appeared in movies like Junebug, Goal! and American Hustle.

#20.Trevor Morgan (Eric Kirby)

Trevor’s acting career was mostly as a child actor, however, he has progressed to movies that allowed him to explore his craft. A little known Indie film Chasing 3000 saw him in a starring role.
