It’s been 10 years since Ranveer Singh made his way to the film industry with romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat opposite Anushka Sharma. The film was helmed by Maneesh Sharma and is considered one of the most memorable rom-coms. As Ranveer celebrates a decade in the industry, the actor spoke about how he almost made his debut with a small role in Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma’s Patiala House.
Speaking to tabloid on his 10th anniversary, the actor said that his struggle period wasn’t easy at all. At the time when he was giving auditions, he said that there was recession due to which lesser films were being made as it had affected movie business too. The opportunities were far lesser as there weren’t digital platforms. The actor said that good opportunities were hard to come by. Singh said that for three and a half years, he was groping in the dark and attempting various avenues, doing rounds of various offices with his portfolio as he looked for work.
Ranveer Singh said that it was far-fetched opportunity for him to become a lead actor. But, he kept going because of all the love, blessings and sacrifices of his parents. He said he was persistent. He was 21 when he began to look for work and by 24 things had worked out for him in a spectacular fashion.
During the conversation, Ranveer Singh mentioned that he almost debuted in a small role in Patiala House, the film which starred Anushka Sharma and Akshay Kumar. He said he nearly also did small budget films that Anurag Kashyap was indirectly or directly affiliated with.
10 years down the line, Ranveer Singh is now counted in one of the biggest stars in the country. On the work front, Ranveer Singh is currently shooting with Rohit Shetty for Cirkus. The actor has two releases in 2021 – 83 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
