So if you’re craving some action and adventure or simply need an outlet for all that frustration and anger, we have got the list of top-rated war movies that will take the edge off the imminent lockdown. Both critics and our users believe that these movies, which have released since 2015, are the absolute best! 1. URI – The Surgical Strike

This action drama chronicles the events of the surgical strike conducted by the Indian military against suspected militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). It tells the story of the 11 tumultuous events over which the operation was carried out.

2. The Ghazi Attack

This historical war drama is set in 1971 when the heroes aboard the Indian submarine S-21 stopped the Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi that ventured into Indian waters with the ambition of destroying the INS Vikrant.

3. 1917

This Sam Mendes directed historical drama is set at the height of the First World War, when two young British soldiers must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers.

4. Paltan

Based on the 1967 Nathu La and Cho La clashes between the Indian and Chinese military, this historical war drama directed by J. P. Dutta chronicles the untold story of a great triumph that redeemed the nation’s pride.

5. Dunkirk

Directed by Christopher Nolan, this historical action thriller is set during World War II when British and Allied troops were trapped on the beach in Dunkirk with their backs to the sea, surrounded by enemy forces.

6. 1971 Beyond Borders

Mohanlal and Allu Sirish lead this historical action drama, which is based on the true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Mohanlal plays a double role, one as iconic Major Mahadevan and as his dad Colonel Sahadevan.

7. 12 Strong

Led by Chris Hemsworth, this action drama is set post 9/11, when a special force team is deployed in Afghanistan to take down the Taliban. Whilst the team comprises of the best soldiers, their challenge is to work in coalition with an Afghan warlord.

8. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

Directed by Michael Bay, this action thriller focusses on an attack at a U.S. compound in Libya, where an American Ambassador is killed and security team struggles to make sense out of the chaos.

9. Kesari

This historical drama set in the 19th century recounts the story of Havildar Ishar Singh (played by Akshay Kumar) who played a key role in the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against a legion of Afghans.

10. Allied

Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard star in this romantic war drama as a Canadian Air Force intelligence officer and a French Resistance fighter, who fall in love and get married. Years later, he suspects her of being a German spy.
