Avengers: Endgame: Film Review – Pure Marvel

Verdict: A superheroic masterpiece that delivers everything it promised.

There’s no doubt that Avengers: Endgame is one of, if not the, biggest releases of the year. This franchise has become a gigantic saga since 2008 and has managed to weave together 22 movies into one Hulk-sized storytelling achievement, ending with an epic finale that the world is ready to dive into.

What’s Avengers: Endgame About:

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos got his hands on all the Infinity Stones and managed to accomplish his endgame – wiping out half of all life to achieve perfect balance in the universe. The Avengers failed in preventing him and the snap also turned many of the superheroes into dust. The remaining Avengers now have to assemble and do whatever it takes to restore order to the world.

What Works:

Marvel Cinematic Universe (and it is literally a universe) has been built upon a foundation of stories that the audiences have watched with infectious enthusiasm over the years. The beauty of it has always been that it welcomes everyone who joins it, whether you were here from the beginning or found it somewhere along the way. If you’ve made it to Avengers: Endgame, it means you care and the film rewards you for it.

The stakes are higher than ever and the endgame is serious. Infinity War has taken a toll on all the survivors and the way they deal with the tragedy deeply effects every one of them. Some move on, others are resistant to change the life they have always known.

Each character gets their moment. Even if half of them are gone, in fact, because they are gone, the Avengers are swinging into a full force avenging mode. There are so many unexpected turns that you’ll be constantly surprised – that’s all we can tell you about the story. What we can tell you is that it will be tugging on so many of your heartstrings that even if you had something as strong as Iron Man’s arc reactor in your chest, it would struggle to handle all the emotions. There are moments that are tearjerkers, moments that will make you laugh, and moments that will make you audibly cheer.

The music has a big part to play in this. Every time you hear that Avengers theme song, its sweeping grandness evokes big feelings. The superheroes have come a long way and they are still charting new grounds, forming new alliances, daring to go off into the unknown.

The performances of everyone are nothing less than spectacular and by now, you almost forget that the people you see on screen aren’t real superheroes and villains, just marvelous actors.

And yes, it’s three hours long. But you aren’t going to mind it because there is not a single moment you’ll want to miss in this film.

What Could’ve Been Better:

Avengers: Endgame is perfection for what it sets out to be. The Russo brothers have achieved their mission of crafting a fitting tribute. But this tribute is one that is more fulfilling for those who have seen the other films.

Why You Want To Watch:

Avengers: Endgame is all anyone is going to be talking about for the next few weeks and you don’t want to be the one in fear of hearing something you’ll regret. If you’re one of those who has avoided becoming a Marvel fan, strap in because there is going to be no turning back after you watch this.
