The Commuter: Film Review – Liam Neeson Delivers A Spectacular Final Blow

Verdict: The movie stays on the right track and delivers a great thriller.

There is an actor who possesses a unique set of skills. He has played a guy whose family is in trouble and it is up to him to save the day. Time and again, he has proven that the audience will leave the movie hall satisfied after seeing him fight the bad guys. We are of course talking about Liam Neeson. Ever since Taken, he is considered to be one of the most bankable action stars. This is his fourth collaboration with Jaume Collet-Serra after Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night. Along with that, it is also the very last time we are going to see Liam Neeson kick some ass on screen. As his very last action movie, the premise couldn't be better.

The Commuter - BookMyShow

What's The Commuter About:

Michael MacCauley (Liam Neeson) has just been fired from his insurance job and is on his way home trying to break the news to his wife Karen (Elizabeth McGovern) and his son Dylan (Killian Scott). On his way home he meets a woman who calls herself Joanna and she assigns him a task for a $100,000 and the safety of his family. The task is to find a person named 'Prynn' on the train. That starts a cat and mouse game where a reluctant Michael hunts for this person to save his family (and we thought by this time the bad guys must know not to mess with this guy).

What Works:

Two words. One man. Liam Neeson. This movie is a Liam Neeson show throughout and he doesn't disappoint. He is supported by a variety of great actors like Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, and Jonathan Banks. The director has done a great job with the train sequences, which make you feel as if you are a part of that journey. The movie also has a great storyline with the identity of Prynn the biggest mystery. Yet, it is not the only one.

What Could Have Been Better:

The CGI was a little off in a certain scene but that in no way hampers your experience of the movie.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:

The Commuter is Liam Neeson's last action movie. If you are a fan of his work, you should not be missing this one. It is certainly a hell of a ride and a good addition to the genre with several jaw-dropping and shocking moments. It certainly makes for an entertaining fun weekend.
