Pitch Perfect 3: Film Review – Far From Flat

Verdict: The group of girls rock this show.

Trish Sie, who is best known for directing Step Up: All In, has helmed the third and final installment of the Pitch Perfect series. The Bellas are back for one last performance and this time they have to not only prove their vocal skills but also beat up some goons. Can they show the world that you don't need instruments to create great music? Will they bow out with a high? Watch Pitch Perfect 3 to find out.

What’s Pitch Perfect 3 About:

The Bellas split after winning the world championships and now each of them is busy doing a mundane job. They meet at a reunion and over a few drinks, they realize how boring their lives are. So the group decides to perform at an overseas USO tour but little do they know what's in store for them. After arriving in Spain, they discover that it is a competition and the one that impresses the most will get to open for DJ Khaled. There are various sidetracks that intertwine with the main story – DJ Khaled's producer, Theo (Guy Burnett) developing a soft corner for Beca (Anna Kendrick), the budding romance between US soldier Chicago (Matt Lanter) and Chloe (Brittany Snow), and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) meeting her estranged father (John Lithgow).

What Works:

Pitch Perfect 3 may not be perfect but it ticks all boxes of a commercial entertainer. The music is spot on as the Bellas croon some of the most recent hits like Sit StillLook PrettyEx's & Oh'sCake By The Ocean and Cheap Thrills. The actors seem to be enjoying themselves as the bond between their characters has only gotten stronger. It's tough to stand out when there's such a huge ensemble cast but Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, and Brittany Snow are the pick of the lot.

What Could Have Been Better:

The humor in Pitch Perfect 3 is crass at times and may not appeal to everyone. Fat Amy's character is supposed to be over the top but a few of her lines are cringeworthy. The track involving the Bellas' abduction is not very convincing.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:

It doesn't matter if you have seen the first two outings as Pitch Perfect 3 is fun as a standalone film. What’s not to love when there's so much of music, dance, and comedy. For those who have followed the series, you gotta know how it all ends on the big screen.

Here’s Why You Should Watch ‘Girls Hostel 2.0’

In the new season of The Viral Fever’s (TVF) college drama Girls Hostel, the medical versus dental wars continue between the girls. Zahira (Parul Gulati) and Jo (Srishti Shrivastava) still do not see eye-to-eye, while Richa (Ahsaas Channa) is still finding her footing with Aarav (Gagan Arora). The dental girls have been moved to a newer, smaller hostel where they’re facing a water crisis and other problems. This new season, unlike the first, focuses on more mature topics such as college politics, elections, eve teasing and more.
