When Hari Got Married: Film Review

Living in a city like Bombay one learns to live fast and simultaneously begins to pass off everyday affairs as trivial. When Hari Got Married takes up from that very point at which we stop i.e. it captures the essence of life gradually and shows human emotions in it’s most natural moments. As I watched this film I realized how much of life I had missed because of the fast-paced nature of my living.

The film takes you to the real simpletons of the country. The film is so uncomplicated that it will slow you down and make you look at the wonders of the world we live in. The film carries the essence of Himachal Pradesh and its scenic beauty. What I like a lot is Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam’s style of direction. They have not aimed to bring about anything but the simplicity of place and its people.

The film is beautiful in just too many ways. Set in a village in Himachal Pradesh, the film is the story of Hari’s marriage. Regardless of whether you are rich, poor or somewhere in between, marriages are a big deal in India. Hari and Suman (Hari’s wife) will forever be etched in my mind.

Himachal Pradesh and its people are fascinating. It’s one of those rare gems that will touch you deeply and make you realize how much you miss in the ‘rat race’.  After I congratulated Ritu Sarin on the film she conveyed to me that, she ‘wasn’t sure whether Bombayites would be able to enjoy her film." But the film gives you something that’s far beyond pleasure, it gives you a spiritual experience and takes you back to your roots and one’s true being.

If you’re fascinated by the idea of a rustic life, romance and marriage or simply tired of chasing your dreams, watch this film and you will find peace.
