MSG 2 – The Messenger: Film Review – The Messenger Is Back!

Verdict: A befitting sequel to MSG – The Messenger.

Earlier this year, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan took the silver screen by storm with MSG: The Messenger. The film followed the spiritual leader‘s journey, as he set out to fight the evils plaguing our society. Now, he’s back in a sequel that is bigger than ever!

In MSG 2 – The Messenger, the protagonist takes it upon himself to save a community of Adivasis. When the lethal tribe’s existence is threatened by the police force, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan sets out to civilize and rescue them. However, this is easier said than done as multiple threats loom upon the tribe, and in turn, their new leader who only fights with one weapon: love.

MSG 2 has all the ingredients for a hit film. In fact, calling it the complete package would be a gross understatement. The film has something for everyone, and we’re not exaggerating when we say that. High-octane action, over-the-top fashion, religion, mythology, love songs, a road trip, scenic locales and a makeover sequence are just a few of the elements the film manages to incorporate in 2 hours and 13 mins.

But that’s not all the movie offers. There are morals and lessons that could give any public service announcement a run for its money. The film takes on a variety of topics, ranging from the importance of love to the ill effects of driving under the influence and human sacrifice. All these topics are highlighted through anecdotes, which fit into the plot quite naturally, for the most part.

Like its predecessor, MSG 2 is an all-out entertainer. The film takes things to the next level with the stunts, the costumes and the sub-plots this time. If the first part was larger than life, we don’t have words to describe the sequel.

Believers and followers are bound to love MSG 2. The film serves as a 2-hour special showcasing the spiritual leader’s beliefs and works. However, it never gets preachy or dull. It manages to strike the perfect balance between educating and entertaining, which we rarely see anymore.

The special effects, however, leave a lot to be desired. Though a fair share of the sequences are well done, there is still scope for improvement. This occasionally takes away from MSG 2‘s impact.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
Whether you’re watching this film for entertainment or for religious purposes, it has something for you. The trailers are honest about what the film has to offer, and if you go in with the right expectations, you won’t be disappointed.
