Avane Srimannarayana: Film Review – A Fantasy With a Western Twist

Verdict: Narayana is in the uniform, with wits comparable to Jack Sparrow.

With back-to-back movies and productions, Rakshit Shetty is back on toes with his exuberant acting in Avane Srimannarayana. The script is brought into action by Sachin Ravi and produced in collaboration with H. K. Prakash and Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah. With Sachin’s debut as a director in Kannada movie, the future looks colorful for Kannada film industry with the box office collection rising. Also, the story is conceived by a bunch of writers including Rakshit Shetty. With more action and less drama as the main motive, Rakshit Shetty is here with a talented and evergreen cast – Balaji Manohar, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Madhusudhan Rao, and Shanvi Srivastava.

What’s Avane Srimannarayana About:

Avane Srimannarayana is a story of prophecies, of truth, of past and present. The movie begins with a treasure that goes missing and how theatrical artists are blamed and killed for the loot. It leaves the feudal lord with two sons who despise each other and part ways to take revenge one day. The treasure is still missing, and everyone is in search of it for 15 years. Amidst all this, Narayana (Rakshit Shetty), a cop with wit, seems to get caught in this entire fight. With his Indiana Jones brains and Jack Sparrow wit, he plans to connect all the missing pieces in search of the treasure. But there are more intricacies and a lot more people are connected to this incident that will be revealed only at the end.

What Works:

From Rakshit Shetty to normal props kept on the set, everything works in this movie. The cinematography is prepared in such a way that it gives us a vision to a cowboy’s saloon, dark and demonic dungeons, barely explored caves and dingy underground passages. You can relate the geography, castles, and people with Game of Thrones. Then, there are people from the forest who remain hidden with their folklores and recitations. This part of the movie just brings magic into reality. The fact that there is only one female character is also a commendable part when she outshines the other characters. A story with a quirky fantasy and a touch of historic takes you to the land of mysteries and magic. Also, the camera excels in showcasing the pre-independence vibes in a fantasy land of Amravathi. And not to mention, the actors have been a true reason for the movie’s success and delivery. The action in Avane Srimannarayana will keep you focussed, and the songs and shakes give the entire plot a vibrant and funny look.

What Could’ve Been Better:

Based on an engaging storyline, this lengthy movie takes more time to get to the conclusion than expected. It seems to go quite slow in places. Apart from that, the movie also challenges human logic and science from time to time.

Why You Should Watch:

A movie like this is made once in a millennium and to be a part of such a realm is good for cinephiles like us. This movie’s intelligently framed plot is interesting yet mind-boggling. It will keep you hooked to the screen with revelations, prophecies, action, and dance in an entirely unimaginable world brought to life through cameras.

Audiences Hail Karnan As A Masterpiece In Tamil Cinema

It’s finally here! ‘Karnan‘ starring Dhanush and directed by Mari Selvaraj has hit the theatres today. Touted to be one of biggest social dramas of the year, the film has been gaining much hype with its poster releases, music videos and the powerful trailer. Karnan also stars Malayalam actor Rajisha Vijaya who makes her Tamil debut with this film, alongside other actors such as Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Gouri Kishen, Lal, and Yogi Babu in important roles. The cinematography has been handled by Theni Easwaran. Mari Selvaraj gained huge prominence for his grating caste drama ‘Pariyerum Perumal‘ which stunned audiences and critics for its open narration of the horror of the caste divide in society. This time around, the director once again sets the story in the rural milieu with Dhanush playing the titular role and a saviour-like figure of the masses. The audiences have spoken and the reviews are nothing short of stupendous.
