Written and directed by Nanda Kishore, Pogaru features Dhruva Sarja and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Bankrolled by BK Gangadhar under Sri Jagadguru Movies, the music and background score is composed by Chandan Shetty, and the cinematography is handled by Vijay Milton. As per the makers, Pogaru is simultaneously made in Kannada and Telugu and is dubbed in Tamil as Semma Thimiru. Expectations for this movie are good as Dhruva Sarja makes a comeback after 4 years and we get to see Rashmika in a straight Kannada movie after a while. Billed to be an action entertainer, let us see what is in store for viewers watching Pogaru.
A simple plot filled with emotion and entertainment
Shiva (Dhruva Sarja) loses his father while he is young. His mother and stepfather hide this news. However, when he realizes the truth, he could not get to terms. He grows up becoming a ruffian and years for his mother’s love. While he is a terror for many, he is still gold at heart. Even after falling in love, he does not change his character. What precedes is a template movie made in the commercial format.
Dhruva Sarja Shines in the film tailor-made for action movie lovers
The whole movie revolves around Dhruva Sarja. Dhruva is at peaks showcasing his arrogant attitude. His action, dances, dialogues, and fights are a treat for his fans. Dhruva stuns the audience with his change over and matured act. Despite her limited appearance, Rashmika Mandanna makes a mark for herself. Pavitra Lokesh and Ravi Shankar performed their roles with ease. The lead antagonists, Dhananjaya and Sampath Raj were good.
Nanda Kishore banks on the characterization and sticks to the commercial format
Director Nanda Kishore succeeds in etching a peculiar character for Dhruva and entirely banks on him. While the main plot is thin sans any twists or turns, he established the character of Shiva in a nice way, giving him ample room for performance. The movie is filled with punch dialogues, high-octane action episodes, dances, and emotional moments. Chandan Shetty’s music and background score strike the right chord. Vijay Melton’s cinematography is commendable. The action episodes involving lead antagonists and foreign fighters are a feast for action lovers. Editing could have been much crisper and production values are grand.
