Kavacham: Film Review – A Thriller High On Action

Verdict: Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas hits the target.

Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, who has so far attempted regular mass commercial subjects like Alludu Seenu, Speedunodu, Jaya Janaki Nayaka, and Saakshyam has experimented with a thriller in the form of Kavacham. Directed by Sreenivas Mamilla, this also marks the first collaboration of the young and stylish star with a debutant filmmaker. With Kajal Aggarwal and Mehreen Kaur Pirzada as the leading ladies, Kavacham has been making a buzz for all the right reasons during the pre-release phase. Will the Sreenivases make a successful pair? Let’s analyze.

What’s Kavacham About:

B. Vijay (Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas) is a Sub-Inspector who works at III Town Police Station, Visakhapatnam. He is sincere and leads a happy life with his widowed mother, who always encourages him to be honest to his profession. Samyuktha (Kajal Aggarwal), meanwhile, works at a coffee shop. After a couple of meetings, Vijay and Samyuktha fall in love with each other, but do not express their feelings. Around this time, Vijay saves another girl named Samyuktha (Mehreen Kaur Pirzada). However, he gets embroiled in a kidnapping case as both the Samyukthas go missing. The actual intent behind the conspiracy and how Vijay deals with the situation forms the rest of Kavacham.

What Works:

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas brings out the best in him as a tough and sincere cop in the movie Kavacham. This is the first time he has attempted the character of a policeman and has emerged victorious. His body language and personality suit the character he portrays and he is especially fantastic in the action sequences. Not just limited to glamour, Kajal Aggarwal and Mehreen Kaur Pirzada have equal and important roles that keep the story moving forward. They were excellent in their parts too and perform well. Neil Nitin Mukesh as the villain makes a late entry in the latter part of the first half and fits in his antagonist role well, despite his hero looks. Mukesh Rishi, Posani Krishna Murali, Satyam Rajesh and others are also decent in their parts.

Debutant Sreenivas Mamilla has attempted the thriller genre without missing its commercial elements and has emerged successful. Thaman’s music and background score are commendable too. Chota.K.Naidu’s camera work is decent and production values are excellent.

What Could’ve Been Better:

The mass sequences in the film could be done away with. However, this does not take away from the thrills the film has to offer.

Why You Should Watch:

Kavacham is an engaging thriller movie that will keep the audience glued to their seats. It also has some good action episodes that you may enjoy.
