Krishnarjuna Yuddham: Film Review – Double Nani, Double Action

Verdict: Screenplay does the trick!

Natural Star Nani has been having a golden run at the box-office for the past three years. Right from Yevade Subramanyam, he had eight hits in a row in the form of Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, Gentleman, Majnu, Nenu Local, Ninnu Kori, and MCA. And now, he is back in a dual role with Krishnarjuna Yuddham. For the first time in his career, he is teaming up with Merlapaka Gandhi who has delivered two hits in a row in the form of Run Raja Run and Express Raja. While Nani is targeting his third hattrick, Gandhi is on the verge of his first hattrick. Anupama Parameswaran and Rukshar Dhillon are also paired up with Nani for the first time in the film. Nani is starring in a dual role for the third time in his career after Jenda Pai Kapiraju and Gentleman. The cinematography is handled by Karthik Ghattamaneni, music and background score is rendered by Hiphop Thamizha, and it is edited by Sathya. Let’s see what is in store for audience watching Krishnarjuna Yuddham.

What’s Krishnarjuna Yuddham About:

Krishnarjuna yuddham movie - BookMyShowKrishna (Nani) is a resident of Akkurthi village in Chittoor district. He is a typical Chittoor guy who is ready to propose to any girl from the village but he finally falls in love at first sight with Rhea (Rukshar). Arjun (Nani) is a rock-star in Europe with playboy attitude who ends up falling in love for the first time with Subbalakshmi (Anupama). Circumstances lead both Rhea and Subbalakshmi move to Hyderabad where they are kidnapped by a human trafficking gang. On the path of finding their love, Krishna and Arjun happen to meet each other. The war they wage against the human trafficking gang forms the rest of Krishnarjuna Yuddham.

What Works:

Nani is fantastic in the roles of Krishna and Arjun and does both the roles full justice. The variation portrayed in the characters weave magic on screen and show the high caliber of Nani’s acting. Anupama Parameswaran and Rukshar also excelled in portraying their characters. Both almost had a similar amount of screen time and fit their roles well. Brahmaji as Arjun’s friend succeeded in bringing out some laughter, especially in the first half. The music and background score was beautifully rendered and the songs in the first half clicked well, especially the mass song. The screenplay needs a special mention. The way both the love stories are narrated in parallel in the first half shows the brilliance of the director and writer, Merlapka Gandhi. The cinematography took the movie to the next level. The picturesque locales of Europe are showcased well. Production values by Shine Screens is superb.

What Could Have Been Better:

When compared to the first half, the second half is bit routine, but Krishnarjuna Yuddham is still entertaining throughout.

Why You Should Watch:

Unique screenplay in the first half, Nani’s splendid act, excellent music, and cinematography are wonderfully entertaining elements that make Krishnarjuna Yuddham a must watch. Go for it!
