Maharshi: Film Review – Embark On An Emotional Ride with Rishi

Verdict: A picture-perfect landmark silver jubilee for the superstar!

Thanks to Devi Prasad’s tunes and an intriguing theatrical trailer, the buzz is enormous. No wonder Maharshi took off with an unprecedented advance booking at the ticket counters. Bankrolled by Dil Raju, Prasad V Potluri and Ashwini Dutt, Maharshi has been directed by Vamshi Paidipally and happens to be the landmark silver jubilee movie for Mahesh Babu as the lead hero. Ably supported by Allari Naresh, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Jagapati Babu, Rao Ramesh, and Vennela Kishore, Maharshi reaches the expectations it has set.

What’s Maharshi About:

Rishi (Mahesh Babu) is a bright student who pursues Masters degree in engineering and wants to make it big in life. Eventually he becomes the CEO of a multinational company titled Origin. However, an incident changes his perception of his life. What he does to solve the issues of the people involved and his realization towards the real value of life forms the rest of the film.

What Works:

Maharshi is a befitting reply to all those who have pre-conceived notions about Mahesh Babu’s craft. Mahesh Babu’s performance is exemplary in all the three shades of Rishi; he has been aptly titled as the Super Star of Telugu Cinema. Allari Naresh has carried his career-best act in a role twined with emotions and will be remembered for a long time to come. Among the rest of the cast, Pooja Hegde does her role well while Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Rao Ramesh, Jagapathi Babu, and Vennela Kishore have excelled in their respective roles.

Given its span and the grandeur, Maharshi is undoubtedly the biggest movie in Vamshi Paidipally‘s career yet. His writing is commendable, which is well supported by Hari and Solomon. Though a couple of duets seemed repetitive, Devi has given a riveting background score. K. U. Mohanan’s vibrant cinematography gives us visuals that almost feel magical. The production values resonate with the landmark movie status of this film with superstar Mahesh Babu.

What Could Have Been Better:

While Maharshi is a well-made movie, there are few scenes which seem repetitive. Also, a few more cuts would have made the film much crisper and more effective.

Why You Should Watch:

Maharshi takes us through Rishi’s fascinating journey, amalgamated with heart-wrenching emotions and is bound to connect with every member of the audience. Go and book your tickets and embark on an emotional ride with Rishi.
