Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene: Film Review – A Decently Engaging Thriller

Verdict: An intriguing and innovative storyline.

Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene, featuring Sundeep Kishan and Anya Singh in lead roles, is written and directed by Ulkuthu fame, Caarthick Raju. Having been made as a bilingual, it is titled Kannadi in Tamil. This marks the debut for lead actress Anya Singh in Tollywood. It features Venella Kishore, Murali Sharma and Posani Krishna Murali in prominent roles. Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene has been produced by the lead actor Sundeep Kishan himself, while the music and background score has been composed by S. S. Thaman. Let’s see what the horror thriller Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene is all about.

What’s Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene About:

The movie starts off in the year 2035, where young research scholars Arjun (Karthick Naren) and Madhavi (Malavika Nair) meet a psychiatrist (Murli Sharma) about a peculiar incident that occurred a couple of decades ago. Cut to 2013, Rishi (Sundeep Kishan) and Diya (Anya Singh) are a happily married couple whose lives take a mysterious turn after they meet with an accident near a burial ground at the outskirts of the city. Hell breaks loose when they happen to see the faces of another couple, Arjun (Venella Kishore) and Madhavi, in the mirror. In search of help, Rishi meets a psychiatrist (Murali Sharma) and Diya meets a pastor in the church. They realize that they are haunted by ghosts and finds a connection with an incident that happened in Greece, four centuries ago. The twist in the tale occurs when Inspector Posani (Posani Krishna Murali) cracks the case and uncovers a spine-chilling truth.

What Works:

Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene’s USP is its unique storyline intertwined with a good twist at the interval. Sundeep Kishan excels in comedy, romance and emotional scenes and has raised the bar with his act. Anya Singh is decent in her role. Venella Kishore shines bright in an important role and is well complemented by Murali Sharma and Posani Krishna Murali. Caarthick Raju should be commended for coming up with an innovative storyline and has done a decent job at executing it. Thaman’s score fits the bill well and Varma’s camerawork is slick. Praveen’s editing is good and as are the production elements.

What Could’ve Been Better:

While Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene starts off on a promising note and keeps the audience engaging with a wonderful interval twist, the latter half tends to go a bit slowly.

Why You Should Watch:

If you are a fan of thriller flicks, Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nenu will not disappoint you. Apart from the thrill quotient, this movie has equal dosages of comedy, romance, and other entertaining elements.
