Spyder: Film Review -Mahesh Babu Shines as Spy in Spyder

Verdict: Spyder hits the bulls-eye with a relevant message

Spyder, starring Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles, is directed by A.R.Murugadoss and produced by N.V. Prasad and Tagore Madhu under the banner NVR Cinema. Spyder is a bilingual made in Tamil and Telugu languages and is releasing simultaneously worldwide today. Mahesh Babu, Rakul Preet Singh, and A.R.Murugadoss have teamed up for the first time with Spyder. S.J. Suryah, who has earlier directed Mahesh Babu in Nani, is playing the lead antagonist role in Spyder. Bharath, Priyadarshi, and R.J. Balaji form the rest of the cast. The music and background score is rendered by Harris Jayaraj and Santosh Sivan has handled the cinematography. With top star cast and technicians at the helm of affairs, the expectations from Spyder were high.Spyder - BookMyShow

Siva is a spy who works for the betterment of the society. His aim is to help people before they get into danger by using technology. He comes across a serial killer Bhairavudu (S.J. Suryah) who finds happiness in killing people. Bhairavudu has grown up in a cemetery and people crying somehow comforts Bhairavudu. Bhairavudu loses his brother Bharat who is killed by Siva. The rest of the movie is all about how Siva nabs Bhairavudu and saves the lives of people.

Mahesh Babu has acted as a spy for the first time in his career and excelled in getting his emotions right. He never disappoints his fans in action genre and Spyder is another feather in his cap. Mahesh Babu also excelled in dances this time. Rakul Preet Singh acted as Siva’s love interest and is limited to a shorter role. She looked glamorous in songs. S.J. Suryah was a revelation in the lead antagonist role. His character is the major highlight of the movie and is very well sketched. His childhood is very well showcased and the way he ends up being a dreaded villain is nicely portrayed. Priyadarshi and R.J. Balaji were good in short roles. The rest of the cast was adequate.
The story and direction by A.R.Murugadoss resemble his earlier movies and he was successful in delivering a nice relevant message blended with good entertainment values. Cinematography by Santosh Sivan is as usual at its best. The music and the background score by Harris Jayaraj have breathed life into Spyder. Editing by A.Sreekar Prasad is neat and crisp. Stunts are well conceived but VFX and graphics could have been better. The production values by NVR Cinema are grand and all the visuals looked great.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
There is no reason required for Mahesh Babu fans. The rest of the audience can watch it for its entertainment and good relevant message for today’s society.
