Teshan: Film Review – A Desi Story That Works In Parts

Verdict: A lukewarm debut for Happy Raikoti.
Nowadays, it has become a trend in Punjabi film industry for the artists
from the music industry to foray into movies. The latest entrant in this league is Happy Raikoti, who has already made a mark as an accomplished lyricist. Can he act and impress the audience in Teshan like some of his seniors have done? Let’s analyze!
Teshan is the story of Teshan (Happy Raikoti) who falls in love with Jinni (Diljott). This is an unusual love story of a desi village boy and a girl who is born and brought up in he UK. Teshan and Jinni decide to get married to each other. Teshan declares to Jinni that after marriage she will have to stay with him in his village, which Jinni readily agrees to. How the marriage ceremony of Teshan and Jinni takes place forms the rest of the story.

Teshan Punjabi Film Review - BookMyShow
Teshan has its highs and lows. The movie is purely desi at heart and is aimed at the rural audience of Punjab. It is set in a backward rural village and beautifully showcases the village life, covering even the minutest nuances of the behavior of villagers, marriage ceremony celebrations, the way men and women discuss everything and everyone in the village. The director manages to bring out the innocence of each character in the village. But Teshan could have lived up to the hype with a slightly better storyline (Prince Kanwaljit Singh).
Happy Raikoti's choice of role for his debut film is indeed well thought of, as he gets to play a soft-spoken boy who respects and cares for his father, lover and everyone else in the village. We look forward to seeing him in other movies, where his acting skills are more honed. Diljott (Jinni) makes a confident debut and enacts decently. Among character artists, Prince Kanwaljit Singh (Chumbak), Yograj Singh and Anita Devgan leave a mark. Karamjit Anmol provides the much-needed laughs.
Director Sukhbir Singh tries hard to make a two hours plus movie but falls a little short on the story. He makes sure that there are a number of events happening to make the proceedings interesting. Music by Laadi Gill is okay plain ordinary. Dialogues are well-penned and generate adequate laughter, which makes the proceedings a little more likeable.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
You can watch Teshan to see how innocent people of a backward, rural areas of Punjab stay happy despite having minimal amenities and other challenges faced by them.

Here’s Why You Should Watch ‘Girls Hostel 2.0’

In the new season of The Viral Fever’s (TVF) college drama Girls Hostel, the medical versus dental wars continue between the girls. Zahira (Parul Gulati) and Jo (Srishti Shrivastava) still do not see eye-to-eye, while Richa (Ahsaas Channa) is still finding her footing with Aarav (Gagan Arora). The dental girls have been moved to a newer, smaller hostel where they’re facing a water crisis and other problems. This new season, unlike the first, focuses on more mature topics such as college politics, elections, eve teasing and more.
