‘Vakeel Saab’ Is Pawan Kalyan’s Show All The Way

A remake of Hindi superhit film ‘Pink‘, Vakeel Saab marks the comeback for Power Star Pawan Kalyan. The last we saw him on screen was ‘Agnyaathavaasi‘, after which he plunged into active politics. Also featuring Nivetha Thomas, Anjali, Ananya Nagalla, Prakash Raj and Shruti Haasan in prominent roles, the movie is directed by Venu Sriram and bankrolled by Dil Raju under ‘Sri Venkateswara Creations’ banner. S Thaman has composed the music and background score and the album is already a runaway hit. PS Vinod heads the camera department while Prawin Pudi is the editor.

A powerful subject

The movie revolves around three close friends – Vemula Pallavi (Nivetha Thomas), Zarina (Anjali), and Ananya (Ananya) – living in Hyderabad. They attend a party at a resort with Vamsi (Vamsi) and his friends. Incidentally, one of the women injures Vamsi while he and his friends sexually assault them. This creates a big mess and a case is filed on all three of them. Left with no choice, the ladies approach lawyer Konidela Satya Dev (Pawan Kalyan) to fight the case against Nanda (Prakash Raj). Whether Satya Dev manages to bring justice to the three women forms the rest of the story.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan all the way

Vakeel Saab is Pawan Kalyan’s show all the way. He makes a riveting comeback to the silver screen. Even in scenes that do not cater to him much, his screen presence does wonders. Pawan Kalyan excels with his performance and is absolutely fabulous in all the scenes involving the courtroom drama. Nivetha, Anjali, and Ananya are pitch perfect and Prakash Raj nails it. The rest of the cast plays their parts well and none of the characters are wasted.

Venu Sriram, S Thaman, and PS Vinod do the trick

Vakeel Saab is a faithful remake of Pink. Venu Sriram should be commended for making the necessary changes keeping Pawan Kalyan’s image in mind and without distorting the soul of the original. While there is a bit of a lag in the flashback episodes, the interval bang, courtroom episodes, excellent dialogues, mighty performance from Power Star and a powerful subject take the movie to the next level. Thaman’s music and background score packs a punch and PS Vinod’s visuals are classy. The editing is sharp and the production values from Dil Raju’s banner are as usual at their best.

WATCH OR NOT:

Vakeel Saab marks the perfect comeback movie for Pawan Kalyan after joining politics. This movie will, for sure, rewrite the box office numbers and stand as one of the highest grossers during the pandemic. While the movie is a recommended watch, stay safe and watch the movie in cinemas.
