Venky Mama: Film Review – Crackling Chemistry Between Venky and Chay!

Verdict: A thoroughly entertaining and an emotional roller coaster.

It’s been a while that a star hero movie hit theatres and Venky Mama kicks off the euphoria, with not just one but two stars – Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya. The journey for this movie has certainly been emotional within the Daggubati family and the fans are indeed waiting with bated breadth to see this dream combination entertain them. With Suresh Production bankrolling this prestigious project, the expectations have soared even higher and let’s see if the team met them.

What’s Venky Mama About:

Venkataratnam Naidu (Venkatesh) dotes on his nephew, Karthik (Naga Chaitanya), whose parents had passed away in an accident, years ago. He doesn’t get married in order to make sure that his nephew is always treated well. The bonding between them is so strong that they cannot live without each other. One incident separates them and Karthik joins the Indian Army without Venky’s consent. How Venky finds him and what happens next has to be seen on the big screen.

What Works:

The sparkling chemistry between Chaithu and Venky works big time for Venky Mama. It is indeed endearing to see the scenes involving mama and alludu. Equally fascinating are Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput as the leading ladies who add to the entertainment quotient of the film. Prakash Raj is good in the role of a Major. Nassar, Parag Tyagi, Sampath Raj, Rao Ramesh, Dasari Arun Kumar, Vidyullekha Raman, Hyper Adhi and others are apt in their roles.

The other good part of Venky Mama is the way director Bobby has balanced the comedy and the emotions throughout the movie. Writing by Janardhan Maharshi, Kona Venkat and Bobby need a special mention. Music director Thaman has been in great form off late and Venky Mama makes it to his list of successful films. Prasad Murella’s camera work is exotic and all the visuals involving the village background and Kashmir have been depicted beautifully. Prawin Pudi’s editing is spot on and the production values are splendid.

What Could’ve Been Better:

While the movie has all the elements of what one could expect from a commercial flick, there are a few scenes that seemed monotonous and made for the masses.

Why You Should Watch:

Venky Mama is a neatly packed family entertainer that checks all the right boxes with good doses of action and comedy. It will definitely bring joy to all kinds of viewers. It is a touching and an emotional journey with top-notch performances from the lead actors. To sum up, Venky Mama is a perfect tribute to Dr. Ramanaidu, whose desire to see his son and grandson work together in a movie has finally came true.
