Mahi (Mahesh Babu), a private money lender in the United States, offers Kalaavathi (Keerthy Suresh) $10,000 for her college costs, only to discover that she has misled him. He flies to India to reclaim the money from her father. Her father turns out to be Rajendra Nath (Samuthirakani), a businessman from Vizag, Mahi’s hometown. Rajendra Nath also happens to have duped banks to over Rs 10,000 crore. The rest of the film revolves around Mahi’s fight against a larger social evil.
The super star is in super form
Mahesh Babu’s star power and comic timing are the film’s key strengths. He packs drama, big dialogues and style. In the first half, Keerthy Suresh gives it her all. In the beginning, the scenes between Mahesh Babu and Keerthy are amusing. She doesn’t appear much in the second half, and when she does, it’s for a less than exciting scene. The villain’s role is crucial in the picture, and Samuthirakani is an excellent choice. He provides strong opposition to Mahesh, and the hero-villain scenes in the second half work nicely. Vennela Kishore’s humour is excellent, and his one-liners with Mahesh are hilarious.
Director Parasuram has done an excellent job with the interval twist. The way in which ordinary individuals who pay high EMIs fall into trouble has also been thoroughly demonstrated. The songs are another highlight of the film. S. Thaman has been on fire lately, and he is continuing that trend with this film.
