Dhanush has a bunch of high-profile releases lined up and one of them is the Mari Selvaraj directed Karnan. Touted to be a hard-hitting rural drama, Karnan is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu with music by Santhosh Narayanan. The intriguing title poster was released on the actor’s birthday. Karnan will see Malayalam actor Rajisha Vijayan make her Tamil debut. The film also stars Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Gouri Kishen, Lal, and Yogi Babu in important roles. It has cinematography by Theni Easwaran.

This actor-director duo is a dream team
Mari Selvaraj gained huge prominence for his grating caste drama Pariyerum Perumal which stunned audiences and critics for its open narration of the horror of the caste divide in society. This time around, the director once again sets the story in the rural milieu with Dhanush playing the titular role. There is still more information to be gauged on the exact plotline of the film but going by the actor’s interesting choice of roles in the past and the director’s penchant for penetrating narratives, Karnan is touted to be an intense social drama.
