Hits and Misses: August 2017

Another month passed by and it had so much to offer. From Independence Day to Ganpati celebrations, from friendship's day to Rakshabandhan, and from some of the most hyped to the most awaited movies of this year. There were so many releases that it seemed almost impossible to catch all of them in the theatres. Was this the case with you too? If yes, then don't worry because here we have a magical list that can help you decide the movies you must watch as soon as possible and the ones you could probably give a skip or watch on TV. Let's get started:

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was about a couple who almost got divorced because of the lack of a toilet in the groom's house. With Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar as the lead pair, this movie was the biggest hit this month.

Bareilly Ki Barfi
A surprise package for the viewers, Bareilly Ki Barfi is about a tomboy Bitti (Kriti Sanon) who found a book that she felt was written about her. The film was not expected to do as good but it turned out to be a super-hit.

This movie was assumed to get lost between the bunch of hyped movies releasing at the same time. But the movie created a lot of buzz after release. This twisted tale of abduction shows the ugly side of real estate and was loved by the viewers.

A Gentleman
This movie was a double dhamaka because of the amazing action, romance, and the twists. Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Suniel Shetty, the movie served well with a good dose of laughter and turned out to be the best of the lot for the week.

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz
The gory action thriller reminded everyone of Gangs of Wasseypur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's presence simply added to it. Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has amazing performances, making it a must watch.

The Hitman's Bodyguard
The film brought the dream pairing Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson together and the viewers are going gaga about it. The action comedy makes for a special place in the must-watch list for this month.

Annabelle: Creation
The prequel to Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation is the story of how the haunted doll came into existence. This movie will definitely make you throw away your dolls. If you are into horror movies, you've got to watch this one.

There were a lot more movies that were loved by the movie goers this month – The Emoji Movie, Partition: 1947, Qaidi Band, Sniff!!!, Muskurahatein, and Shreelancer.

In Regional Cinema: Arjun Reddy (Telugu), Vivegam (Tamil), VIP 2 (Telugu), Anando Brahma (Telugu), Rocky Mental (Punjabi), Kaccha Limbu (Marathi), Mala Kahich Problem Nahi (Marathi), Dhananjoy (Bengali), Taramani (Tamil), Nene Raju Nene Mantri (Telugu), Lie (Telugu), Jaya Janaki Nayaka (Telugu), Clint (Malyalam), Honey Bee 2.5 (Malyalam), Bhikari (Marathi), Undga (Marathi), and Wassup Zindagi (Gujarati).

Not all the movies were able to impress us and missed. Some of them are – The Dark Tower, YADVI – The Dignified Princess, Atomic Blonde, Thrissivaperoor Kliptham (Malayalam), Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam (Tamil), Roll No. 56 (Gujarati), Darshakudu (Telugu), Nakshatram (Telugu), Chunkzz (Malayalam), Jab Harry Met Sejal, Varnyathil Ashanka (Malayalam) and Raj Vishnu (Kannada).
