Debutant director K Thamarai Selvan’s first offering to Tamil cinema will be a psychological thriller with supernatural elements titled Rubam. The film stars Parvatii Nair in the lead role with Ghibran composing the music for this film, while Sudarshan Srinivasan, who shot Nayanthara’s Airaa, will be the cinematographer. Selvan has previously worked with director Mohan Raja in Thani Oruvan and Velaikaran which were both very successful in the box office.

Rubam will be a female-centric spookfest
In the director’s words “The story revolves around the battle between two mothers for the sake of their child. The supernatural element comes in when a character — played by Parvatii — who doesn’t believe in superstitions and astrology is forced to give importance to them.” Parvatii is expected to play the role of a pragmatic police officer and producer Rajesh felt that her body language and physique suited the role perfectly.The antagonist’s role is played by Bollywood actor Freddy Daruwala, who will be making his Tamil debut with this movie. “The villain’s role will be a unique one, and I felt his look suited the character,” adds the director. The Chennai-set film will go on floors in January 2021, and the team is in talks to actress Sneha to play the role of the other mother.The first look of the film has also captured the interest of the viewers.
