The Next Big Thing In Tamil Cinema: Sivakarthikeyan

Born on 17th February, 1985 to a police officer Late Mr. G. Doss and a housewife Raji, Sivakarthikeyan was born for greater things in life. The actor, whose grandfather was a Padma Shree award winner for Nadaswaram, did his Bachelors of Computer Science and Engineering at JJ College of Engineering, Trichy. He also completed MBA in Chennai. At the young age of 31, the actor who started off as a popular face on Tamil television has found the secret to stardom. Just a few years old in the industry, Sivakarthikeyan has emerged as one of the most bankable actors in Tamil cinema.

With back-to-back super hit movies – Rajini Murugan, Remo and Velaikkaran, Sivakarthikeyan has been on a roll.

Beginning his career as a participant on Vijay TV’s Kalakka Povathu Yaaru, a comedy reality show that he eventually went on to win, Sivakarthikeyan emerged as a familiar face on TV presenting the same show and many other shows on Vijay TV like Jodi No 1, Boys Vs Girls and many others. He was loved and appreciated for his sense of humor and witty one-liners, which he often used to poke fun at people on the sets of these shows. His first big screen debut was with the 2012 movie Marina directed by Pandiraj which did just fine at the box office but got him noticed. He then chose to appear in a Dhanush starrer movie ‘3‘ as a supporting cast.

His role as Dhanush’s friend in the movie was highly appreciated by many as he provided comic relief to an otherwise serious movie. He was later cast as the lead in the Ezhil directed movie Manam Kothi Paravai which did fairly well at the box office. In the year 2013, the actor had a number of really good movies to his credit.

Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga again with director Pandiraj, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam with Ponram and Ethir Neechal with director R. S. Durai Senthilkumar were his movies in 2013, which saw him slowly emerging as an unlikely mass hero who people adored. He not only acted in the movie Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam he also sang the title track.

In 2014, his movie Maan Karate released in which he again sang a song Royapuram Peter. In 2015, he teamed up again with Durai Senthilkumar for Kaaki Sattai in which he played the role of an honest police officer.

The year 2016 could be said to be the best year for the actor who had a really great box office success with his two movies namely Rajini Murugan and Remo. His character in the movie Remo is, without a doubt, the most interesting. He was praised for his performance by none other than the Thalaivaa. Rajinikanth personally called up the actor and said, ‘ A great Star is born’, which is absolutely true. His recent films Kanaa and Seemaraja did well at the box-office too.

His upcoming movie Mr. Local is set for a release on 17th May, 2019. The film which also stars Nayanthara in the lead is a comedy drama.

Sivakarthikeyan has achieved stardom in just a few years and super-stardom is just right around the corner. We can’t wait to find out what more the superstar has in store for us!
