Zombies Have Made Their Big Screen Debut In Zombie Reddy…Are You Reddy?

Prasanth Varma, known for his experimental movies such as Awe and Kalki, is now back with yet another novel concept movie, Zombie Reddy. Introducing Teja Sajja as a lead protagonist, the movie features Anandhi and Daksha Nagarkar as female ladies. Bankrolled by Raj Sekhar Varma under Apple Tree Studios banner, this is their maiden venture. Labeled to be the first of its kind movie, let us see if it manages to woo audiences watching in cinemas.

Zombie enters Rayalaseema

The movie begins with Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing lockdown following the Corona pandemic. Mario (Teja Sajja), a game developer, finds issues with his gaming software. To fix it, he needs to meet his friend (Hemanth), who stays in Kurnool. Undeterred by the lockdown, Mario and his group of friends head to Kurnool. On the way, one of his friends gets bitten by a stranger. Eventually, one after the other, all the people in the village start turning into zombies. How Mario and others come out of this forms the rest.

The casting is apt for this first Telugu zombie film

While the plot is the main hero of Zombie Reddy, all the artists played it to perfection. Wonderboy Teja Sajja makes a grand debut as lead protagonist and he performed his part with ease. Being an artist since his childhood, he showed that maturity in his debut movie as lead hero. Both Anandi and Daksha Nagarkar performed their parts well and the whole pairing seemed fresh on-screen. The rest of the supporting cast played it to their galleries, and one can’t stop laughing their hearts out.

All credit goes to the technical crew for the grandeur

The best part of Prasanth Varma is the knack of making movies on a shoe-string budget without compromising on the quality. Be it Awe or Kalki, they are visually appealing on screen, irrespective of the budget. His third movie Zombie Reddy falls in the same category. The movie is technically brilliant, and all credit goes to the technical crew. Cinematographer Anith needs to be appreciated for coming up with scary, yet funny visuals, filled with grandeur. Mark K Robin’s background score is the major highlight for this zombie genre movie. Though there were zombie movies made in other languages, Prasanth Varma’s Zombie Reddy is certainly close to Telugu nativity and is quite different from other zombie movies. Editor Sai Babu used his scissors to perfection and ensured there is no lag. Apple Tree Studios made a grand entry to Telugu Cinema with their maiden venture.

WATCH OR NOT

As promised by the makers, Zombie Reddy gives a whole new experience for viewers watching in cinemas. The team should be appreciated for all the efforts made to entertain the audience with a novel concept. This one makes up for a good watch in cinemas.
