Come Saturday, December 12 and fans of K-Pop all over the world have a reason to be excited. After all, the biggest names in the Korean pop industry such as BTS, iKon, Mamamoo, Kang Daniel, Red Velvet, Stray Kids and more will come together for The Fact Music Awards 2020, which you can stream here.
Started in April 2019, the awards are touted as Korea’s best global K-Pop festival. They’re a lot like the American E! People’s Choice Awards in the sense that fans have a huge say in who wins. The other criteria considered are album and digital song sales, votes from a panel of judges, and of course, the aforementioned online voting by fans.
This edition of the music awards is all set to take place virtually, with no audience, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The awards will be hosted by well-known South Korean celebrity Jun Hyun-moo and Seohyun of the popular girl band Girls Generation. Incidentally, these two hosted the maiden award ceremony as well. The Fact Music Awards enjoy the distinction of being known as awards created by the fans to reward the popularity and talent of their favourite K-Pop performers.
The performance line-up this year is as impressive as it gets. The uber popular boy band BTS (pictured above) aka Bangtan Boys comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook will kick things off. Expect to groove to their popular hits such as ‘Dynamite’, ‘DNA’, ‘Boy with Luv’ and ‘Idol’.
They will be followed by the all-girl group Twice, the boy band Tomorrow X Together, the ladies from ITZY, singer-songwriter Kang Daniel, rapper Jessi and many more.
The previous edition saw BTS walk away with the Grand Prize, Listener’s Choice Award, Best Album and Artist of the Year. Will everyone’s favourite boy band be able to recreate last year’s magic? Tune in on Saturday, December 12 at 12.30 pm to find out.
