It’s been nine years since Rahul Dravid hung up his boots and drew curtains on a glittering international career. One of the greatest batsmen India has ever produced, he earned a reputation of playing hard but fair and always upholding the spirit of the game throughout his career. Dravid’s involvement with Indian cricket, however, didn’t end with his retirement. True to his nature, the man decided to give back to the sport by grooming the forthcoming generation of cricketers. This is perhaps why, even after nine years since he last played for India, Dravid continues to receive love and respect from fans and others in the cricket fraternity.
As the legend turned 48 today, there couldn’t have been a better tribute to him than India’s terrific fightback at Sydney to save the test match earlier in the day. Dravid after all is considered to be the gold standard of grit, determination and patience, all of which was displayed by the Indian team today.
