We’ve just seen him in the latter kind of film, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘. ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

In the sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (2017) and ‘Spiderman: Far From Home’ (2019), Cumberbatch plays Doctor Stephen Strange from the Marvel universe. He’s a sorcerer who can conjure complex spells. Peter Parker enlists Doctor Strange’s help to make the world forget about Spider-Man’s identity. Here, Doctor Strange performs a tricky spell to help Parker, while warning him of the consequences.

‘The Courier’

He forms a dangerous alliance with Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze), a Soviet officer, to provide crucial intelligence that’s needed to defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis (pictured above).

‘The Mauritanian’

This legal drama is based on the memoir of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a Mauritanian man held for 14 years without charge in Guantanamo Bay for allegedly helping to recruit hijackers who were a part of the 9/11 attacks. Here, Cumberbatch plays the role of Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Couch, a US military prosecutor who refused to go ahead with Slahi’s prosecution, because he believed that the man’s incriminating statements were a result of torture.
