Now that we’ve talked about Sebastian Stan’s character Bucky Barnes in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, it’s time we discussed Sam Wilson.
After a successful season, the curtain falls on WandaVision this week and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier makes its debut on Friday, March 19. Audiences will soon be able to catch the duo of Sam and Bucky for the first time after the cataclysmic events of Avengers: Endgame.
Anthony Mackie, the actor who plays Sam Wilson aka Falcon, assures fans that the show will tackle his character’s backstory. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will find Sam at an interesting point in his career and life in general. When fans last saw Falcon, he had just received a great honour: Captain America’s shield. Before hanging up the suit and shield, Cap chose Sam as his successor. However, while fans have awaited Sam taking up the mantle of the MCU’s new Captain America, Cap’s are some big shoes to fill and the task won’t be easy.
“I think a big part of why people like him is that Sam is a regular guy. He doesn’t have superpowers. He doesn’t have a super serum. He doesn’t have a super anything. He’s just a regular guy who found himself in a crazy situation.”

Sam Wilson is a great character that has been a part of the MCU since 2011’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but hasn’t really been given time in the spotlight. The movies heavily focused on Cap and Bucky. With the longform nature of television, hopefully, Falcon will finally get the attention he deserves. The show drops to Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, March 19.
