Episode three of Marvel’s WandaVision bursts into vibrant colours as the surreal superhero sitcom channels the ’70s. What Easter eggs, hidden messages and curious details does the third episode of the series reward eagle eyed viewers with? Let’s jump in and find out.
All signs point to a dream
There are literal signs pointing to the artificially constructed nature of the town of Westview with the tagline “Home is where you make it.”
Billy is short for William
Vision wants to name their baby Billy, after William Shakespeare, and offers another reference to the artificial nature of the reality (after all, all the world’s a stage).
The commercial dropped some hints
The episode’s commercial for Hydra Soak Luxury Bath Soap has a voice-over with lines like “Find the goddess within” and “Escape to a world all your own”. This might be a hint at Wanda manifesting some godly power and escaping the reality of the show.
A somewhat ominous pregnancy
Throughout her pregnancy in episode three, Wanda unknowingly brings various inanimate objects to life, including paper butterflies and a painting of a stork. She and her unborn children are also somehow linked to the technology and infrastructure of the show’s setting, her labour contractions affecting household gadgets and blowing out the power.
