SonyLIV played a huge role in OTT’s success story in 2020. The streaming platform reinvented itself and churned out a string of original content that was well-received by the audience. It is now set to begin 2021 with the second season of its lighthearted drama Gullak.
One of the many relatable shows brought to us by The Viral Fever (TVF), Gullak revolves around the Mishras, a middle-class family of four, and shares endearing stories arising out from their day-to-day life. Narrated by the family gullak or piggy bank (voiced by Shivankit Singh Parihar), the show explores the imperfect relationships and aspirations of the Mishra family using anecdotes from their lives. The trailer of season two, which dropped a few days ago, tells us that not much has changed for our protagonists. Santosh Mishra (Jameel Khan), the family patriarch, still works at the electricity department and drives the same scooter, while his wife Shanti (Geetanjali Kulkarni) remains ever-angry and sarcastic. Their older son Annu (Vaibhav Raj Gupta) is still unemployed, while the younger son Aman (Harsh Mayar) continues to struggle with academics.
Season two of Gullak will stream from Friday, January 15 on SonyLIV.
