Lionsgate Play, an independent streaming service from American cable and satellite television network Starz, was launched in India in December 2020. Apart from featuring a slew of great shows, they are also working on producing original Indian content. Their first Indian original is a remake of the American TV show Casual and will star Lara Dutta and Prateik Babbar.

They recently announced their second Indian original starring Sumeet Vyas, Arjun Mathur (pictured above), Parambrata Chatterjee and Ahsaas Channa, among others. Tentatively titled U-Special, it is a college romance drama set in North India. Directed by Akarsh and Adhaar Khurana, the show will provide a glimpse into Indian campus life. “This series is designed to connect and resonate with young audiences who are our largest demographic,” said Rohit Jain, Managing Director South Asia and Networks-Emerging Markets Asia for Lionsgate India.
