In an interview with Emmys Magazine (via Comicbook.com) Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige (pictured above) revealed that Marvel’s She-Hulk TV series will be a legal comedy consisting of half-hour episodes. While we could simply take this piece of information at face value and be intrigued at the idea of a Boston Legal style comedy starring She-Hulk, this also reveals something interesting about the plan for these new Disney Marvel shows. One of the major reasons for Marvel’s box office success is their blending of superhero action movies with other genres. It’s what keeps their superhero offerings fresh. Captain America: The Winter Soldier plays like an espionage thriller while Thor: Ragnarok has a lot of slapstick comedy.
This announcement by Kevin Feige doesn’t only mean the television universe will introduce a lot of new comic book characters with overlapping stories. It also means that the Disney Marvel TV series universe will continue the mixing of genres on the small screen as well.
