British Pakistani actor, rapper, musician and activist Riz Ahmed has been in the news recently for making entertainment history. His portrayal of Ruben, a punk-metal drummer and recovering heroin addict struggling with hearing loss in the movie Sound of Metal has earned him an Oscar nomination, making him the first Muslim to be nominated for lead actor. Ahmed spent nearly a year learning American Sign Language and drumming in New York for this role. Sound of Metal, which has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. ‘The Get Down’

Created by Baz Luhrmann and Stephen Adly Guirgis, The Get Down (pictured above), is a music-driven drama about the birth and rise of hip-hop in New York. ‘Mozart in the Jungle’
