Continuing the trend of adapting popular video game properties to the small screen, Netflix is releasing a new anime-style series adapting the popular video game DOTA 2. A teaser and release date have already been revealed. The series will be the latest on the list of video game adaptations from Netflix, including the Castlevania animated series and The Witcher along with upcoming shows based on Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed. Despite the questionable past of video game adaptations, Netflix’s efforts so far have been met with a positive response.
DOTA 2 is one of the most popular video games in the world and a significant player in the world of esports. Developed and run by Valve, the company behind the juggernaut video game marketplace Steam, DOTA 2 is a multiplayer game that pits two teams of five against each other with the objective destroy the opposing team’s base.
