Pushpak Shakur (Jackie Shroff), a yogi who seemingly confesses to a brutal murder cautions, “The real cancer of the human race is technology.” Shakur, who sing-songs, is averse to clothes and uses weird filters on social media is just one of the many quirky characters in the Hotstar Special OK Computer.
Touted as India’s first sci-fi comedy, the trailer introduces us to detective Saajan Kundu (Vijay Varma) who’s investigating an apparent hit-and-run accident involving a self-driving car. One look at the victim and he deduces it’s not an accident but a murder. Investigating Officer Laxmi Suri (Radhika Apte) reminds him that, “The laws of robotics prevent any AI from harming human beings.” This sets off a search for the person that re-programmed the car’s artificial intelligence (AI) program and wackiness ensues. The show packs silly comedy from an AI company’s CEO who frequents Moscow, Tokyo and Bhandup; to sketch artists who put forth Mickey Mouse as the identity of the disfigured victim; to Maushi call-backs with reference to Jackie Shroff’s character; to the robotic prime suspect.
OK Computer streams on Disney + Hotstar on Friday, March 26.
