Directed by debutante Vinod Ananthoju for Bhavya Creations, Middle Class Melodies features Anand Deverakonda and Varsha Bollama in lead roles. The rest of the cast includes Chaitanya Garikipati, Divya Sripada, Goparaju Ramana, and Surabh Prabhavati. This humorous entertainer which offers a sneak-peek into middle-class lives has music composed by Sweekar Agasthi and background score is rendered by RH Vikram. This is Anand Deverakonda’s second movie after Dorasani, a period love story set in the ’80s with a backdrop of revolt against caste barriers. This movie happens to be way different from Dorasani and the cinematography is handled by Sunny Kurapati. While the trailer impressed big time, let us see what the movie has to offer.
A simple story narrated in a fantastic way
Raghava (Anand Deverakonda) and Sandhya (Varsha Bollamma) have been in love since their high school days. Raghava has been fascinated with Bombai Chutney since his childhood and takes care of a small tiffin centre run by his father. His only goal is to start a hotel in Guntur and stand on his own feet. What it takes to achieve his target and how the lead pair convinces for their marriage forms the crux of Middle Class Melodies.
The casting is perfect and adds to the experience
Every actor in the movie played their part well. Anand Deverakonda impresses everyone with his subtle act. Varsha Bollamma is a natural actress and the pick of the lot. Goparaju Ramana as Anand’s dad dominated the rest of the cast on several occasions. Chaitanya Garikipati steals the show as Anand’s friend and his love track is nicely handled with an underlying message. Every character is given equal importance and excelled in their own way.
The technical crew have given their best
Middle Class Melodies start off slowly and keep you engaged as it rolls over. Sweekar Agasthi’s music and Vikram’s background score captures the essence well. Vinod Anantoju makes a mark with his debut directorial and Janardhan’s writing is witty. Sunny Kurapati scores high with the lens and the Guntur flavour is realistically captured. Editing is pitch-perfect. The second half is the soul of the movie and the best part is it’s freshness in the comedy. It doesn’t make you laugh but puts a gentle smile on your face till the end.
WATCH OR NOT
Middle Class Melodies is a tale of typical middle-class struggles showcased through multiple characters and their arcs. The major takeaways are the ultra-realistic setup and the humour quotient tagged to every character. Not to forget, the way the end titles are organized need a special mention. Watch this movie with your family and do yourself a favour.
