Daredevil aired on Netflix for three seasons (2015-2018) as part of an attempt to build a universe of Netflix Marvel shows, similar to that of the MCU movies. While the attempt at a shared universe was unsuccessful, critics and fans loved Daredevil. However, since Disney acquired Marvel, Netflix was compelled to cancel the show with the introduction of Disney’s streaming service, Disney+.
Recently, Daredevil fans posted art to Instagram in support of #SaveDaredevil, an effort to bring back the Netflix Marvel show.
The official website for the Save Daredevil campaign rallied fans to make sure their voices were heard on social media.
So on Sunday, November 29th, from 10am-12pm Eastern Time, we’re inviting the Fandom Without Fear and Daredevil fans around the world to join us on Twitter and other social media platforms to amplify the #SaveDaredevil hashtag worldwide and remind Disney and Marvel that the fans want to see OUR version of the Daredevil character return with Charlie Cox in the role, and the series revived with the same cast and mature rating. If there was ever a day to make a lot of noise, it’s this one!
In a coordinated approach, fans were given instructions on how to have the topic trend on Twitter and other social media. It seems the fans accomplished this part of their mission.
In addition to making #SaveDaredevil trend like whoa, Daredevil fans showed up and pushed our petition over 400k! If you're new to the campaign or the hashtag, we invite you to add your voice to the official petition now! https://t.co/3cWTB0aY2I@MarvelStudios @Disney @Kevfeige pic.twitter.com/0wHPrG5j6p

There will be a challenge in returning this version of Daredevil to the screen. The Netflix Marvel shows were adult-oriented in their depictions of violence and language. Disney has hesitated to move into that sort of content on their platform because it would be against their brand image. Wherever Disney lands on the issue of Daredevil, it’s clear that they will have to answer to the show’s fans.
