‘Splinter Cell’ Joins The Growing List Of Netflix Video Game Adaptations

Series adaptations of popular video games are on the rise on Netflix and other OTT platforms. Following the success of The Witcher and Castlevania animated series, Netflix recently announced an animated adaptation of Dota. The latest game to get the Netflix treatment is Splinter Cell.

The Splinter Cell series of games began in 2002 when Ubisoft released Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. The franchise has since spawned numerous sequels and spinoffs, as well as novels, none of which were actually written by author Tom Clancy. Splinter Cell has remained one of Ubisoft’s most popular games over the years, despite a decline in recent game releases. The lead character, Sam Fisher, has historically been voiced by actor Michael Ironside, though he briefly left the role for 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

In an interview with Collider, executive producer Derek Kolstad revealed that the show’s first season will consist of eight episodes, each running between twenty and thirty minutes. He also revealed that the anime will have two different timelines running simultaneously.
