Jar Jar Binks won’t be in the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series is set to bring back two iconic characters from the prequel trilogy. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will be reprising their roles as Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader, respectively. Jar Jar is divisive among Star Wars fans, many of whom find him annoying.
It’s an understandable reaction to the character’s over-the-top comic relief.
Ahmed Best, the actor who played Jar Jar, recently took to Twitter to congratulate the Obi-Wan Kenobi team. When a fan replied to his tweet asking asked whether he’d be playing Jar Jar on the show. The actor responded saying that while he would have loved to be a part of it, he would not be returning to his role in the series.
Thanks for the love, but I will not be in this series. As much as I would’ve loved to be a part of it. But I’m ecstatic to see folks who I love dearly back together doing great things. https://t.co/5bzLq9yslh
