After a 15-year-long run, horror series Supernatural is finally airing its series finale tonight. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean reflects on his final days playing the character, his feelings about the ending and his last day on set.
Since it first aired in 2005, Jared Padalecki (Sam) and Jensen Ackles (Dean) have faced off with various paranormal creatures in the drama. The series finale entitled ‘Carry On’ is a nod to ‘Carry On Wayward Son’, a 1976 hit by the band Kansas. The song has been the show’s unofficial anthem and classic rock has featured prominently throughout the series. On the show, brothers Sam and Dean travel across the US in Dean’s ’67 Chevy Impala. Dean blasts metal, prog-rock, and arena rock classics while on their demon-hunting road trips. This title for the show’s last episode is definitely fitting. Kansas, who are still actively touring and putting out new music were definitely ecstatic at this hat tip and let their Twitter followers know.

Considering that the penultimate episode of the series wrapped up the current plot arc, there’s a lot of speculation as to what the finale of the beloved series will have in store for fans. However, they can probably expect to hear ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ one last time during the finale.
