Eric Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, posted photos from the set of season three which show a gun convention that’s marketed toward women. The convention seems to be another attempt at public relations management by uber-shady corporation Vought Industries. It’s definitely a cynical move. The promotional posters for the convention consist of heart-string pulling and tongue-in-cheek pop culture references. There’s also a pink assault rifle.

This is the second time the series has taken on the issue of guns. In one episode, Homelander made a speech about the need for thoughts and prayers for victims of mass shootings. The series also satirizes the way corporations, such as Vought, use positive messages of inclusion for their own gains while performing heinous atrocities behind closed doors. We have to wonder if the convention will be the background for larger stories on the show, perhaps a showdown between Homelander and Butcher.
