The CBS adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic horror story The Stand is described as “King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil.” In the story a pandemic wipes out humanity (sound familiar?). The Stand follows two groups of survivors, one representing hope and the other led by an demonic man with a desire to bend others to his will.
The story will be adapted to 10 episode limited series with episodes written by New Mutants director Josh Boone, Owen King (Stephen King’s son) and the Stephen King himself. While the novel did receive a TV series adaptation in 1994, wit this new series, fans of the original novel should not expect a direct adaptation of the novel, but a newer more timely interpretation of the story. The Stand stars Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgård, James Marsden, Ezra Miller and Amber Heard.
