After six years, WandaVision finally showed exactly why Vision was worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer Mjolnir.
Through the weapon’s history in the comics and MCU the one aspect of it most people are familiar with is the fact that only those who are “worthy” can lift it. The qualities that make one worthy are vaguely defined, but seem to be bravery and selflessness.
The moment showing Vision’s worthiness was in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). As the Avengers bickered with one another, Vision casually picked up Mjolnir and handed it to Thor.
In WandaVision episode six entitled “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!” we get a scene that expands on Mjolnir’s choice in Vision. Vision discovers Scarlet Witch’s magic barrier around Westview and forces himself to break through it at the expense of his own safety. His body starts to deteriorate once he’s outside the barrier. Even as his body breaks down, he pleads with SWORD agents on the outside to save the people of Westview.
In spite of being a synthetic organism, Vision has arguably displayed the most human qualities of all the Avengers throughout the movies. The scene in WandaVision really illustrates that humanity.
