SYNOPSIS
Based on Stephen King`s best-selling novel and a sequel to Stanley Kubrick`s The Shining (1980), Doctor Sleep focuses on a grown-up Danny Torrance. Still traumatized by his childhood experiences at the Overlook Hotel, Danny finds a new purpose in life after he meets Abra, a young girl who shares his psychic powers.
Together, they must battle against True Knot, a nefarious cult which preys on children with special powers in order to attain immortality.

The best thing about Doctor Sleep though is Abra, with newcomer Curran wan and hurt in parts, vain and exultant in others shimmering enough on that grey zone between good and bad to suggest what often lies on the other side of a shining: a dark side.

This is evident in the grand finale, which could easily pander to fans, but instead pays homage to the mythology of the original. Granted, this reflective horror flick isnt for everyone, but if you enjoyed `The Shining`, you`d undoubtedly find this to be a worthy successor.
