The Jagriti Season has always been performance-driven rather than economics-driven. Back in 2011, when the first Season opened, each play ran for 18 shows. This is an unprecedented length for a play to run at a time in any performance venue in the city. It was a strange experience for artists coming in night after night to perform for over two weeks at the same theatre - it created an artistic experience for actors and directors who would perform a few shows at a venue, then pack up and travel elsewhere to perform. While, the 18-show run is now an 11-show run, it is still the only such opportunity that is available to performers in the city.
The Jagriti Season 2016, Bangalore Edition, will focus on local theatre companies. It will celebrate the very prolific and diverse range of theatre-makers and companies in the city.
