What a weekend it was for India in Sports! In just 24 hours, team India registered three mindblowing wins in three sports. First in Cricket, India beat Newzealand in the 3 rd ODI at Mohali on Sunday; In Kabaddi, India clinched their third consecutive World Cup, beating Iran by 38-29 in the grand finale at Ahmedabad; and in Hockey, India beat arch-rivals, Pakistan by 3-2 in the Asian Champions Trophy. Three cheers to Team India!
Heroic performance is something that is now a common feature to Virat Kohli's batting! And this Indian batting superstar has done it again. Chasing a formidable total of 285, Kohli's unbeaten 154 off 134 steered India to victory and gaining 2-1 lead in the series. Supporting him on the pitch was the captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The duo combined for a match winning 151-run stand for the third wicket. One dropped catch by Ross Taylor at the slip in the 5 th over itself, cost black caps dearly. Because the man he dropped, went on to score 154 and set the game for India. With this 26 th ton of his career, Virat surpassed Kumara Sangakara and reached at the fourth place in the list of players with most ODI hundreds.
Some things never change and India's dominance and supremacy in the sport of Kabaddi is certainly one of them. Team India retained the Kabaddi World Cup trophy for the third in the row after defeating Iran by 38-29 in the finale at Ahmedabad, this Sunday. The finale saw India showcasing top class kabaddi. Indian players were far more better and technically superior than their Iranian counterparts. Despite not being at their best, Indian Kabaddi team ended the tournament as the best in the world. The hosts scored 224 raid points, 69 more than second best. Hats off to Team India!
India Vs Pakistan is always a high voltage match, be it in any sports! India took on their Arch rivals and defending champions, Pakistan in a preliminary league match of the fourth Asian Champions Trophy, Hockey on Sunday. And, India exhibited one of their best performances ever under pressure and won the match by 3-2. This victory gives India seven points from three outings and placed the team at the third position in the points table. It always feels so delightful to see India defeating Pakistan, be it in Cricket, Kabaddi or Hockey! Isn't it?
