After 30 days of unadulterated and unrelenting Kabaddi action, we have got our champion – Patna Pirates. Led by the young dynamite, Pardeep Narwal, the Pirates created history by beating Jaipur Pink Panthers in the finals to lift the coveted trophy of Pro Kabaddi League season 4 and thereby becoming the first team to claim the championship twice. Having outplayed the Pink Panthers in all the departments, Patna Pirates were amazing throughout the final, which was played at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad yesterday. And, with this terrific win, we concluded another thrilling season of Pro Kabaddi League.

Right from the first whistle, Patna Pirates dominated the final match. Captain Pardeep Narwal, it seemed had saved his best for the last and just ruthlessly destroyed the defence of Jaipur Pink Panthers. Not only were the Pirates amazing in their attack, their defenders, the Iranian duo, Fazel Atrachali and Hadi Oshtorak delivered big time. The men in green had entered the finale with just four losses in the championship – the least amongst the eight teams. Since the beginning of the season, the Pirates were keen and intent on repeating their heroics of PKL season 3. Quite interestingly, Patna Pirates lost both their league matches to Jaipur. But in the final, Jaipur Pink Panthers were simply lacking the firepower and body language to beat a team like Patna Pirates, which had immense talent.

The Pirates were one of the most consistent teams of season 4 and they made it clear from the beginning itself by their five back-to- back wins that they mean business. The captain, 19-year old Pardeep Narwal has been phenomenal. He registered a massive 115 raid points and always rose for his team whenever his heroics were needed. Quite literally, no defence has been able to come up with a solution to stop this dangerous youngster, who has shown immense composure and maturity for his age. But, he was not the lone ranger for his team. His fellow raiders Rajesh Mondal and Surjeet Singh ably supported him, when needed. Fazel Atrachali, Bajirao Hodage and Dharmaraj Cheralathan have shined throughout the 14 league matches and the semis.

This season of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League has been the season of many firsts – as for the first time we had seen the biggest defeat of all the seasons (Jaipur Pink Panthers defeated Delhi Dabang K.C. by 25 points), as for the first time, a team has won the trophy for twice and as for the first time, women’s teams locked horns in the Women’s Pro Kabaddi League.

PKL, see you next season again!
